jkb,

I was on a business trip/vacation for the past week and had a chance to thumb through some PC magazines and the like. The next 3Com product is going to be called the Palm VII because it is at least 4 steps ahead of the Palm III. It is supposed to be wired to the gills. I believe that the potential to increase storage may be related to storing things such as e-mail, large programs such as Excel spreadsheets and other software such as a character recognition program for cursive or the like, and perhaps to store downloaded web pages. The biggest obstacle to date is the lack of functionality offered by Windows CE. If we can get a Jupiter class PDA operating on something other than Windows CE we will be in business.

I also read that there is a telecommunications device made by Motorola that can convert the average PDA into a personal pager/stock ticker receiver utilizing the CF slot. Thus, CF may become a multifunction slot, and not just for CF. In any case, if additional devices are developed which also reside in the CF slot it will only push the standard further.

I have several other articles clipped out and will post as soon as I have had a chance to unpack and shake all the sand out of my loafers. If anyone has further insight in this regard, please let us in on the news.

Good to be back!
