"The only way E-Bay can survive the Yahoo! onslaught is to make their service free as well, and then start making money from banner ads and other advertising."

Maybe you should ruin the company. Oh I mean run! There are plenty of things they could do. Let's see 1.5 million auctions going on. What if they highlighted some auctions on TV. That sounds expensive, but you never know anything to add value. The EBAY network. It is better than the Home Shopping Network?

Momentumn is with them. Yahoo is not focused on auctions.

<<Yahoo! now has an auction site which caters to all the
consumer markets that E-Bay has targeted.>>
I think everyone should be watching this closely whether short or long E-Bay. However, do you know when Yahoo started this site or whether the site has just been much improved recently?
I'd be interested in other's opinions regarding the quality comparison presently but my opinion is that its only a matter of time. Also, it seems to make a difference from a liability standpoint if you collect a commission which would favor Yahoo.
