red,
For discussion purposes, say the grade of the 6000 tonne bulk came in at 1 carat per tonne at an average value of $US 400 per carat, but there was a single 100 carat stone worth $US600,000.00. In this case, the value of the 100 carat diamond would represent $US100.00 of the average value per carat! Now lets say there were 3 thirty carat stones worth US$200,000.00 each. Subtract another $US100.00 per carat average value. How about 30 ten carat stones worth about $US 20,000.00 each. Subtract another US$100.00 per carat average value. Now the average value is reduced to about US$100 per carat. Would Kaiser and Bishop, if they are consistent, argue that it is a fluke and the average value per carat is overstated and should be much lower, like about US$98.00 per carat? Yes they would. They would be wrong again. I hope this simply illustrates how ignorant with respect to diamond exploration and evaluation both of them are. By the way, the scenario I used is IMO very conservative for what will likely come out of the bulk sample so keep your seat belt on.
