Two Way Fixed Wireless (LMDS)

Bernard,

You should know the answer better than anyone else on this board. Glad to see you back again.

As far as two-way LMDS, the earliest deployment is likely to be NextLink, following their purchase of WNP's LMDS licenses and proposed purchase of the remaining %50 co-owned with NextBand. NextLink hopes to start deploying their fixed wireless LMDS links late this year as "spurs" from their nationwide fiber network. This will allow them to totally bypass ILECs.

If only Shant Hovnanian had partnered with Craig McCaw last year then some of Brossard's patents had a chance of participating in the nationwide LMDS deployment. Maybe something like this is behind the recent mysterious spike in SPDE share value. Also, for the next several years two-way LMDS appears economical only for business use, which is one of the reasons why I finally stopped waiting and signed up for high speed cable, albeit it too is only one-way at the moment in my area.

Bernard,

check the Hybrid Networks Thread--they're selling CPE for Wavepath in SF/Silicon Valley Area.
