You're absolutely right. People focus so much on the headline brokerage figure (only $8.99) but dont take any notice of issues such as "slippage" - how much extra did it cost you because it took 20 seconds extra to get the trade executed - on 1,000 shares, this could amount to several hundred dollars.

Real time daytrading programs like CyBerTrader can pay for themselves in just one trade by saving this.
