CheckFree to Provide Internet Billing and Payment Services for Country of New Zealand

ATLANTA (Sept. 29, 1998) - CheckFree (NASDAQ:CKFR) and New Zealand Post have signed an agreement allowing for delivery of Internet-based electronic billing and payment services throughout New Zealand. The service is planned to launch in February 1999.

Follow up...It's almost February. So I went over there to look, not up yet but did find a list of perhaps future billers.

Then I went looking in and found this coming out of Singapore

SingPost spokeswoman Janine Mathieu says vPost "will complement the existing physical infrastructure of the postal system," but it could replace it altogether. vPost is also testing an online payment system that would complete an all-electronic billing circuit. The city already has an automatic payment network called Giro, wherein a one-time signed authorization permits utility and other companies to automatically deduct monthly payments directly from bank accounts. The vPost system gives consumers more control; payments go through only after customers review their (electronic) bills and approve specific amounts.
