Once-hip Compaq Lames Out
February 01, 1999

Compaq.com. That's a good one. Dell just wet its Joe Boxers over that one. So did I.

Compaq is delirious, suffering from the extended shock of its merger. Not that it isn't encouraging to see the successful survival of the Siamese twins of Compaq's PC juggernaut connected at the conservative, backward-thinking portion of the brain with DEC's service and support behemoth. But to suddenly be asked to think of Compaq as an Internet-savvy company?

Mohan:

Thanks for the information on the Caymans.

I agree that taxes are necessary, although they will have a tendency to increase without limit if citizens are not vigilant.
The IRS says that it is my responsibility to pay as little tax as I legally can, so I am looking for every opportunity. I think Alan
Greenspan agrees that the more money we can keep in the private sector, the more efficiently it will be used and the better off we will all be.

Namaste,

Ken

Thx for the geography lesson on the Caymans. Great place names, 'the mountain', 'the wreck', etc.
With Dell booming, vacations are much on my mind. Here is the best(of the rather limited) places I know, Cabo San Lucas. As described in this URL..

This is one of those most rare people, a true friend,
Attorney Dan Reising(in blue shirt) of S.Cal who likes lawyer jokes.
We are in front his boat, the Metejon, a twin 100 hp Volvo diesel
normally docked in that mass of boats in the harbor.

Here are two views from the aft deck as we move out past the rocks of 'Lands end' in search of the elusive Blue Marlin (and a
$100,000 if one catches the biggest one)

Now Monasteries have their place, but so does a three martini
dinner at the 'Trailer Park' restaurant.

re taxes: theft, pure and simple, and the fact that other countries steal more from their citizens than ours doesnt make it right.
re Cayman Island, the point is privacy, not avoidance of taxes, you still have to pay taxes if you keep your U.S. citizenship but your doings are not reported to U.S. "authority" which is a strict violation of our rights anyway. U.S. banks and credit card companies do not honor your privacy as Switzerland and the Cayman do, and that is the point.

P.S. You bet I am aware that Government thugs are reading these messages. That includes E mail and PM also.
