My main gripe with the cable rampup is that the cable companies have a Monopoly granted them by the Government, but are allowed to dictate what Internet service we have to use. They should have to be a "Common Carrier", like the Bells, and allow us to pick our portal. Then AOL, CompuServe, MSN, and others would be able to compete.
