read in inet publication (The Industry Standard that % of americans who own computer rose from 36% in 1995 to 43% in 1998. over same time frame % americans who use inet rose from 14% to 41%.

pre-1995 most people bot computer for word process/games/quicken...now we are in environment where new computer buyers have 2nd compelling reason to buy computer: get on inet. expect computer sales (and consequent inet usage) to accelerate for this reason...among others

point is a high % of these new households will flock to AOL based on their marketing/adtsg. these newcomers (as well as bulk of current aol subscribers) will stick to aol. most people are basically inert...they stick to what they have. don't expect new technology to change "instincts". GO AOL
