Tom, too bad you didn't get any credit in the article. You deserved it. Incidentally, Dan Nile's response was exactly as I predicted, wasn't it? <G> Seriously, what else could he say? I doubt he is very happy about it, though. Analysts don't like to be embarrassed. Don't look for any more re-iterations of that $200 goal next week. <G>

tom, what floors me is that mu acquires MASSIVE capacity, has a sequentially down mb output of 10% and then has the unmitigated gall to claim that this fact isn't important to shareholders.

now, i know mu shareholders leave a lot to be desired. however, are they that dumb to not be utterly insulted??????

>>Niles did not know the number was incorrect until a reporter told him on Friday.
He said the new, lower number would not change his positive view of the
company.

That's beautiful.

His relentless pursuit of excellence and committment to continuously improving the
quality of his own work product is truly inspirational <g><<

he doesn't even read sec documents... folks, this guy claims to be an analyst...

Tom, I wholeheartedly agree, Gretchen did a great job of bringing out the important facts. I do wish she would have asked Dan Niles to comment on the decline in bit production as well as the backend problems. It is an amazing that he apparently has not read the 10Q.

It will be very interesting to see where this story goes from here. In normal times, with a normal company, you would expect to see the stock take a huge hit tomorrow, but this being MU, and with the market in mania mode, who knows? The analysts and MU will definitely try to spin this as irrelevant, but huge damage will be done to their credibility.

Regards, Dave
