d,

When I looked back at Vivus posts from 1997 before the Vivus crash I found that you were a Vivus bull who was defending your position when the stock was pulling back in the October to November time frame.

It seems to me that you were really caught with your pants down.

Its easy to come back after you got creamed and the stock is trading in its all time low range to donate your pearls of wisdom to those who are still holding and expecting a turn around.

And don't patronize us! We don't need your appologies nor you pity.

Go jump on some internut stock and hope that you don't lose it all in one hour!

It is especially tough in this market to be holding a loser in the midsts of the internet craze. Speculative greed certainly rules over prudent investing. As Al Greenspan recently said, although a few of these stocks may be fairly valuated, the vast majority are doomed for failure.

You have to give Vivus some credit. Not withstanding the terrible management decisions which resulted in a massive cash burn rate, Vivus has been able to totally restructure itself and change its business model so that even with its drastically reduced product sales, it has been able to preserve its cash position over the past 6 months during the most difficult of times. Certainly this is not any great financial milestone but at least it proves that Vivus is still a player and removes the fear of not being able to survive in the face of Viagra. It's not easy to compete against the most successful product launch in the history of pharmaceutical sales especially considering the very limited resources that Vivus has to work with.

I and many others here hold our positions for only 2 reasons:

1)Based on comparitable valuations we find the stock to be grossly undervalued.

2)We feel that in due time the stock will demonstrate a significant recovery. All that is required is a domestic partner relaunching MUSE in the US and for all the EU countries to launch MUSE. Then we will see some serious product sales and a nice return to profitability.

Had we known about the amount of manipulation in this stock I am sure we all would have cut our loses and invested elsewhere. But we are here and it is a done deal. We have no intention of selling otherwise we would have taken our tax loses last January and moved on to greener pasture.

Sure it feels bad being stuck with a dog but it would feel even worse to sell for large loses and then see a run back to double digits once everything plays itself out.
