TWA < Off topic, Talking Stocks > I would say that you are mostly correct about the runway problem. Most of the time they have two flights taking off or landing within seconds of each other. Side by side.
I beleive that during bad wheather they still have flights coming in more or less side by side, but stager the flights more. Instead of side by side, stagering back and forth between runways.
No Doubt that the runways are to close together and does cause delays.
The New runways will have more spacing between them and longer. Added runways too.

The crash that you mentioned should not effect the runway. That was a small plane on the ground that got to close to the main runway. The landing TWA plane cliped the on ground small plane. Killed all on board. 3 people I think
The other crash that comes to mind was apx.27 years ago. That Ozark flight crashed a few miles before the airport. VERY NEAR my parents house.

Southwest is my favorite airline too. They seem to be able to get in and out of Lambert fast. Why they can and TWA can't, I do not know.

I remember talk about TWA starting one or two smaller hubs elseware to relieve Lambert of congestion. Don't know what has happend to that.

Delays. I have had the same problem with Northwest going threw Memphis. I always get a long delay or missed flight.

Next time you fly into St.Louis wave down below, my house is right on the flight path for in coming flights. You will know who I am, the one shaking his fist up at the sky. lol
SOmetimes they are so low I think I can see people in the windows. < g >
