Well Lindy Bill.... (I am feeling dumber than a plank here...but....here goes...I will continue till I understand all this!!)

They may be separate companies..but I pay my @home bill to Cablevision.....via their Optimum service.

"Cablevision and @Home Network Announce Affiliate Relationship. October, 1997 - Cablevision and @Home Network announced a strategic alliance to deliver @Home Internet service to 5.5 million homes in key markets including New York, Boston and Cleveland. The agreement "solidifies Cablevision's belief that cable is the superior infrastructure for the new digital age," said Cablevision CEO James L. Dolan. " off their page optimumonline.com

Optimum

one bill.....to cablevision....gets my @home paid.

Then....I pay AOL $10 (not for ISP access) but to "view their (AOL's)content"...

Can you explain the problem to me again...pls...I still don't get it.

Are you expecting free access to AOL with your ISP connection (cable modem)?... the cable modem simply gives you faster access.....than the regular phone ISPs.....not free aol.

Other than using AOL as your ISP.....any ISP (modem company, Worldnet, MCIcom, sprint....) would not give you free access to aol.
and aol...gives you a "break on charges" if you "brring your own access" (BYOA program)...about a $12 savings....since you are not tying up AOL or using them as your ISP.

okay....?
whew........mary
