Can someone give me an example of why the consumer would run out and buy a PIII because the software is hooked to the serial number?".... ---- As I expected this is a great coup for the software developers. WRONG. I can hear them, "wow, now we are going to get all that money from pirated software. WRONG... I see a big battle coming...the consumer likes the idea he can install the same program on his wifes computer or upgrade his computer and use the same old software or put it on his notebook or kids computer in college, or even give it to his buddy. Take that ability away and these software developers will have a rude awakening. As no, I don't think they should work for nothing....but they should also realize that "pirating" is a great distribution channel that eventually leads in many cases to the purchasing of registered copies and upgrades...Sure, its sloppy but I don't sell many good software developers starving either. Sure, the boxmakers love it, the software developers love it, the credit card companies love it, marketing and information companies will love it...BUT JOE consumer is sick of the cold calls at dinner time. And where did those callers get the information to call you from? This is big, if I was AMD I'd already have the PR churning. Jim Jim
