barrick.com - first offer at 27, '23% over yesterday's close'

barrick.com - mention of aqp's 'number of interesting properties'

barrick.com - abx mails [$27] offer for aqp

barrick.com - deal at 30, lockup with CMS & crew

barrick.com - acquires 93% [11 days later!]

Arequipa never had a website likely. What I remember is that it all happened so fast, it was before I had a computer [bought this computer with some of the proceeds -g-] and being summertime I wasn't paying attention anyway .... aqp took a big dip to 17 or so in late July or more likely early August, just before the deal at 30 ..... I took the cash instead of paper, and converted it to Canadian bank shares, which paid off .... but not this time - gold, oil, uranium this time around ...... cheers, all ... hang in there

Frank,

With regard to the $6.75 figure the Lundins were reported to have thought acceptable a while back, I for one don't know if this is to be believed. Do you recall if this figure was ever officially attributed to him? Even if he did say it maybe he was quoted out of context or said it in jest.

Also, along these lines, a story or two has said that Newmont has bowed out, but I don't know if this is to be believed or not either. Sure, it might be true, but I would want a little more verification other than someone mentioning it in an article.

One thing I find interesting is that Lundin in the last conference call said companies will be touring the property in the next few weeks. I don't know what is causing the delay, but would love to know. I think this is more of a plus than a minus.
