That's right Bob carver started Phase Linear. But he was having some design problems with the big amp, the 700. Unstable on funny loads at max. power. (I can testify to this as I plugged my 700's into the house system at club on time. Forget the brand (altec, I think), anyway, I turn on the 700's, volume knobs turned up, and I hear this high freq. wail then pop. All the 700's had the needles pinned to the wall. [SHIT!, quickly turn down amps.] The club had the speakers set up on a 4 ohm load that was a bit reactive. the phase linears took care of that REAL quick. I just quietly unplugged the house speakers and plugged in my speakers and did the gig. I never did tell the club owner he just had all his speakers smoked.) anyway, Bill skinner went up and finished it off for him, also designed the 400. Bill really did most of the design work for carver for several years. Then they sold Phase linear. Bob when to do his esoteric thing and Bill when down to LA to work on video compression stuff.

Anyway, back to business.....

BAM Re: Bob Carver..........................................
Today Carver Corp made a news announcement that Bob's Sunfire Corp is
reuniting with Carver Corp (OTC BB CAVR ). They hope to return Carver
to its glory years. I read hi end audiophile mags and the Sunfire
subwoofer has received unanimous acclaim ( even in Stereophile ).
Carver stock is only .20/share and might not be a bad gambit as they
attempt to reestablish retail outlets.............................V
