I would be in favor of a low income tax of 5 to 10 percent and a sales tax of 5 to 10 percent. An income tax fails to tax those who are retired or investing in tax-advantaged investments. An income tax also penalizes domestically produced goods at the benefit of foreign made goods. There are also a lot of people in the cash and barter economy who evade income taxes.
