Christine: Unlike christians' belief, I do not believe that I am my brother's keeper, nor that any man or woman has an automatic lien on my life, or that I owe something to an individual because they happen to be in a state of poverty or need. State enforced altruism takes away my rights to do what I want with my life as long as I do not violate another's rights, and takes what I have created personally and puts it to uses I may be opposed to. Of course, they have to do this through the threat of force, because they know it is not right. I also am not heartened to see EPA agents now cruising America packing sidearms. The best way to end poverty is not through confiscatory redistribution of wealth programs, but education. The best education is private. Take it out of the hands of the government. FT
