Christine: I already answered, but I shall add, should individual rights be subverted, destroyed or bartered away because of assumed blackmail of violence or fear? Many US citizens today live in a constant state of fear and allow themselves to become victims because being a victim is so "in". The rugged individualists who helped build this country would probably spit in disgust on those cowards of the late 20th Century who trade away rights for comfort, or other's wealth because of fear.
