Steve,
"I think that part of the delay in the K6-3 is their attempt
to create enough difference in the two products such that
cannibalization does not occur. "

----

Let's face it. The reason we haven't seen the K6-3s is because AMD is having trouble ramping and getting enough 400MHz speed parts to make a release. Since megahertz sells (TM McMannis), AMD will have trouble explaining the difference between the K6-2 and K6-3 especially when/if the K6-3 tops at 400MHz and the K6-2 at 450MHz.

Steve - Re: " since Gateway has not announced an entry level system with AMD's K6-2, seems to me that the Gateway-K6-3 system may be such a system. Not good for AMD, IMO. Again we will have to wait and see. "

Very perceptive - a good analysis.

Paul

Steve & Intel Investors - February 28, 1999 is the Pentium III Launch.

Intel has re-vamped their WEB site.

The Home Page at intel.com is dedicated to the Pentium III and there is a picture of a Blue Door with a note on it saying:

"This Way In"
"Opening February 28, 1999."

February 28 is a Sunday, it should be noted.
