CALGARY, Feb. 4 /CNW/ - FLAG RESOURCES (1985) LIMITED IS COMMENCING TO
DRILL THE LARGE ZONE OF MINERALIZATION, INDICATED TO EXIST, FROM GEOCHEMICAL
SAMPLING OF THE GABBRO ROCK, ONE MILE SOUTH OF THE RATHBUN LAKE OCCURRENCE, IN
THE WANAPITEI NIPISSING GABBRO INTRUSION, SUDBURY, ONTARIO.
''Flag owns the major portion of the Wanapitei Gabbro Intrusion,
extending for 6 miles in Rathbun Township, including the Rathbun Occurrence,
containing some of the highest known abundance of platinum and palladium
associated with mafic rocks. Because of the strong commercial demand for
palladium, and because of a recent study of Nipissing gabbro stating that
geochemical sampling of the gabbro rock is an effective exploration tool, as
the study says it is well documented that mineralization is associated with
high magnesium and low titanium content, Flag is accelerating its exploration
of the sparsely explored Wanapitei Gabbro Intrusion.
Flag is proposing, in addition to the current drill program, to
geochemically sample exposed bedrock in surface showings, one and a half miles
east and three miles south of the Rathbun Lake Occurrence. The surface
showings have the same suite of six minerals as the Rathbun Lake Occurrence -
platinum, palladium, nickel, copper, gold and silver.
Golden Briar Mines Limited, an associated company, can earn a 50%
interest in the claims currently being drilled by spending $400,000.00 over a
four year period.''
