Vancouver is overrun with nice looking places that sell poorly prepared and slightly expensive food that I could make better with one hand tied to a wild dog. I used to eat on Robson Street and Howe and I went to a different restaurant each day in search of one that would not disappoint. Eventually I had eaten at every one and liked none. Now when I go out west I eat at the A& W's as the quality is better and the food consistent. If you try the fish places that charge 50 bucks for what you pay 20 for in Toronto or Timmins you will get decent scoff, but lower on the scale than that and you are better off buying Colonel Sanders Northern-Fowl-in-Grease.

Let's put it this way. The traveller's Baedecker says: "West of Winnipeg, carry food from the east. What you passed you thought was a garbage dump was the restaurant. If you sight roadkill and you haven't eaten for 3 days, check for maggots. If maggot free and warm it will surpass the next restaurant. Scrape off tar and oil and tie to catalytic converter with iron wire. Drive 15 miles, scrape off and wash down with antifreeze."
