While S3 is quick to point out that this board is aimed towards the value-conscious end-user and NOT as a Voodoo3/TNT2 killer, take a peep at its specs and compare them to the other next-gen chips. Savage4 will do 32-bit rendering, texture compression, and 2K by 2K textures--while Voodoo3 will not. Savage4 will support up to 32MB of local memory--Voodoo3 maxes out at 16MB... and that's without any full AGP Direct Memory Execution.

Wait, there's more. A full featured 16MB Voodoo3 board will most likely come in at around $200--but a 32MB Savage4 board (with all the aforementioned specs) is rumored to come in at around $99. In other words, if everything falls into place as planned, S3 may just have enough left in its arsenal to kick its competitors in the shin and give them something to think about.
