Since when you are shorting, you initiate a position with a sell. When they get halted, and hopefully delisted, you don't have to repay the shares you borrowed to sell

Assuming it is delisted, you won't have to replace them. No cover necessary. The poor sucker who bought them however, OUCH! It will be interesting to see what happens when and if it reopens.
