I think there is an assumption out there that anything on a network is hackable without extraordinary efforts, but I don't believe that will hold true for state of the art security systems. Because that's what we are discussing here -- the hackability of the security system.

I think electronic communications are hackable because of the absence of these systems, and the people putting in the coming security systems -- like Oracle, Bank of America, IDX and IDT -- are more aware of the types of network attacks than anyone else, and carefully design against them. Defenses against hacking have been getting so strong that the US government is uneasy with some security systems being exported, since US intelligence relies on its own very high level hacking capacities.

By the way, the Oracle 8i product is now due to be shipped in late February.
