NORRIS COMMUNICATIONS CHANGES COMPANY NAME
TO "e.DIGITAL CORPORATION"

New Name Reflects Strategic Focus on Connecting
Portable Devices to the Internet

(SAN DIEGO, CA - January 13, 1999) - Norris Communications, Inc. (OTC: NCII) announced today that at yesterday's Annual Shareholders Meeting, Shareholders approved a proposal changing the company's name to "e.Digital Corporation", effective immediately. Effective at market close today, the company's stock will stop trading under the "NCII" symbol, and will begin trading on the OTC Bulletin Board tomorrow
morning under the symbol "EDIG".

"We felt that a company name change was necessary because the old name no longer reflected our business model," stated Fred Falk, President and CEO of e.Digital. "We have spent the last two years building our business providing an embedded, digital solution for our OEM customers, and we felt strongly that our identity should reflect
this."

Mr. Falk continued, "The name change to e.Digital reflects the company's commitment to continue developing full-featured portable products with links to the PC and the Internet. Our embedded MicroOS file management system, along with our custom product design and manufacturing services, are on the leading edge of the evolution from
analog, mechanical, magnetic devices to digital, compact, Internet-friendly products.
The new name is more appropriate for this business and more indicative of our future as a company."

Also effective tomorrow, the company's World Wide Web address will change from norriscomm.com to edig.com. The old address will continue to function for twelve months.

e.Digital Corporation offers an engineering partnership to bring electronic ideas to market for the world's leading electronics companies. Engineering services range from the licensing of e.Digital's patented MicroOS(TM) file management system to custom
product development and manufacturing services.
Specializing in embedded systems for portable products utilizing non-volatile memory, e.Digital's technology packs full-featured operation into low-cost microcontrollers to preserve valuable memory for
other functions. e.Digital is a leader in linking portable digital devices to PC's and the
Internet. For more information on the company visit www.edig.com.
