I received by fax two recent newspaper articles featuring USA Video and their video on demand system. These are basic staff writers paraphrasing of the company line but doo higlight a few factors. l. USVO is targeting the educational market with digitialized videos which can be made available from a master server in any of 120 schools in one region. (Conn) This project is now underway with thousands of videos being digitalized. The benefit to teachers is that they can easily take clips from a number of educational videos and assemble them into a lesson plan right on their own computer. 2. The corporate training field is targeted in the same manner as the educational field in that corporate trainers can easily used digitalized video clips in assembling any training course. 3. The entertainment field (Movies on demand) is being entered with a Canadian cable company "Metronet" which currently can sell USVO's corporate training package. The ultimate aim is to sell access to digitalized videos with broadcast quality where the customer can view the movie as if it is in his VCR ie. fast forward, pause, reverse etc. In my admitedly brief conversation with Mr. Molina ( I will call back tomorrow) he indicated that he has been very busy and obviously works late since he could not get my faxes out until after 6PM. Mr. Molinas did not indicate that press releases are due out at any specific time but that he is working hard to make this the year that they finally get rolling! I have to get more details but apparently USVO is working on a deal involving "wave" technology. They will be lisenced to resell & use this very new technology in future applications. In short I must say that I am impressed with USVO's plans for movement outside the web and will get a better idea of their plans for sales in web design & services! I am not finished buying myself but hope to pick up more tomorrow or Wen before any dramatic movement!
