Where G.O.P. Gathers, Frustration Does, Too nytimes.com

Something we never would have noticed around here, eh? The entertainment - only article of the day from the Times. One quote only.

"I'm less struck by anger than concern and despondency at the American people, and resignation, at this stage, and pride in the Republicans and Henry Hyde," Bill Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard, said, referring to the House Judiciary Committee chairman and a leader in the impeachment effort. "For generations the romantic loser, the noble defeat, has resonated with conservatives, and that's what this has become in conservative mythology: an honorable man, Henry Hyde, bested by the clever and dishonorable Bill Clinton -- one day, we hope, to be vindicated."

Yes, one day people will understand the adulterous papal knight's "youthful indiscretion" that ended at age 48 was all honorable and part of a larger truth. Just as his views on lying in Iran-contra are honorable and consistent with his current views. They'll understand that Ken Starr putting the screws on Julie Steele was necessary, honorable, and not the least distasteful. On the one hand, it'll all be forgotten about in a month, but on the other hand, people will recognize the righteousness of the cause 30 years from now. You just got to believe!
