Some of the problems lately may have to do with some problems on a big Internet node out here on the west coast. My ISP is trying to route around, but can't do it for all sites.

Etrade and Schwab are also messed up, how much due to recent volume, and how much due to stuff like victorias secret videos hogging the internet bandwidth, and how much due to the usual newbie programmer incompetence I don't know.

I think animation and audio heavy sites like CNN's video streamers are going to have to start paying a surcharge for bandwidth damage unless the gov gets the phone co's to throw a 100x bandwidth increase into the trunks. Maybe spammers should pay too. That ought to kill them off!

People are rushing to cable modem and adsl and that means a 25x increase in use of bandwidth for the individual, eventually. No doubt already affecting us, as we can now press the mouse button all that more often. This is probably killin the internal networks of many ISPs already, many of which are simple 100 megabit ethernet and some of which are still 10 megabit. Which is, when every ADSL user has a meg, not nearly enough.
