<< The fact is that if the economy is booming, workers ought to benefit not just by having a job but also by having a job that pays them well. >>

Ah, but what is the meaning of "well"!

The states have their own minimum wage laws, many of them higher than the federal. Let them set the scales according to local markets. Since the economy is booming, there is also job mobility for people to seek better pay and benefits. If not, then they need to seek to improve their skills. Employment and compensation is not a static endeavor.

Dipy, so if a worker is given 6.50 an hour instead of 6.00 dollars an hour than he or she is paid well huh?

You want to help the working poor? It's really quite simple. cut the taxes! Cut the sales tax, cut the income tax, cut the gas tax, cut the levy's and fee's which litter the landscape! Cut the size and scope of government and FREE the education system so the next generation isn't caught in the same system of pathetic government education.

No, I don't suppose a Democrat would want to get at the root cause of the problem, when they can do nothing and feeel good because they have raised the minimum wage a .50 cents huh?
