CANAL+ SERVICES AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY ON AOL
AOL, the world's leading online service (18.3 percent-owned in France by CANAL+), began offering its subscribers new services designed and developed by CANAL+ on October 20. Echoing the premium channel's focus on movies and sports, +DE DIVERTISSEMENT and +DE SPORT offer innovative and exclusive content with continuously updated news, magazines with audio and video, interviews, etc. Around ten people at CANAL+ are involved in producing and updating the news and magazines, in cooperation with the journalists and directors of the channel's movie and sports shows. Subscribers can find a short description of all current theater releases and inside news on the actors, directors and shooting in "Les Sorties Cinéma"; check out the week's box office results and informations on film budgets in "L'Edito"; or interview people in the spotlight based on a detailed biography and career news in "L'Invité". Sports, and particularly soccer, are given extensive coverage, with comprehensive results updated on each day of championship play. Locker-room interviews by the CANAL+ sports teams will be included, along with rankings, statistics, scores, and video summaries. All this information will be very useful for AOL subscribers who want to play Star System or Star Foot, two interactive games in which the player acts as a movie agent or team coach. These exclusive CANAL+ services are available for free to all AOL France subscribers.

Spain................................

In Spain, CANALSATELITE remains firmly in first place in the digital market with more than 500,000 subscribers

Africa............................

AFRICA
In Tunisia, the new marketing campaign boosted sales, with the portfolio showing net growth of 1,500 subscribers in the third quarter. This compares with a net decline in the year-earlier period. In June, CANAL+ Horizons began marketing a digital French language package to sub-Saharan Africa via satellite. The initial results have been encouraging.

BELGIUM
In the Flemish-speaking part of the country, new subscriptions were lifted by the start-up of the national soccer championship season on August 21 and new advertising campaigns. The number of new subscriptions was 71% higher than at September 30, 1997. In addition, the cancellation rate has improved significantly. The digital service introduced in April, which contains three multiplexed versions of the premium channel and ten theme channels, totaled 8,587 subscribers at September 30. Of these, 97% receive both the premium channel and the theme channels.

NETHERLANDS
The beginning of the Dutch soccer season has had a positive impact on new subscriptions and the cancellation rate has declined. In September, the premium channel launched a daily sports magazine that has proven highly popular, attracting more than 50% of the subscriber base.
