I don't know if I posted to this thread the extent to which hog prices fell - 7 to 8 bucks per live Cweight, so assuming 60% turned into grocery meat = 13 cents a blended cut pound. I never saw my pork chops drop too much at the grocery store.

Caused a guy in Iowa to propose letting his pigs go feral on a section and let people hunt them for a hundred bucks a pop. Shoot a 250 lb prime pig (much better than a deer) and the farmer would get $100 vs 20 bucks from the packing house. PETA flung their full putrid force at this and he forgot the idea.

The hog market is recovering now, but I wonder how these disconnections affect all the statistics we see. I have a feeling the glass we are looking through is very distorted. -ng-
