Thanks for your thoughtful response. In hindsight, I regret straying from the subject of this thread. I have some association with the issue (my mother was the warden of a prison for many years) and so, unfortunately, I was a bit too quick to react. Anyway, I'd be willing to bet that a thorough discussion of the issue with you, were it ever to occur, would find us not all that far apart from each other on the basics.
