Kitchen counters need no longer suffocate beneath a never-ending pile of
catalogs. Excite's (XCIT) shopping channel debuted a new online
department promoting Hanover Direct's (HNV) catalogs. Normally
delivered through the mail, the Hanover titles include: The Company
Store, International Male, Domestications and Tweeds, among others.
Hanover Direct President and CEO Rakesh K. Kaul said of the
agreement in a press release, "Our alliance with Excite allows us to
expand our exposure of Hanover merchandise to the 17 million unique
users Excite attracts every month, to offer Excite's superior online services
and utilize Excite's cost-effective marketing media program." Excite is also
exclusively promoting Hanover-affiliate Keystone Fulfillment as a
third-party e-commerce partner on its site.

If you're the sort of person who considers your time on the Internet as
important to your well being as a daily vitamin, turn to Paracelsian.com.
Paracelsian, Inc. (PRLN-BB) is developing an online store to sell its
New Century Nutrition line of health products. The company also
publishes a nutritional newsletter, found at NewCenturyNutrition.com.
Adding to your dose of vitamin E-commerce, an association with
BarnesandNoble.com (BKS) will permit users to purchase health-related
books online. In a press release, Paracelsian President and CEO Bernie
Landes explained, "We recognize that the Internet is an extraordinary new
vehicle for the dissemination and sharing of information, as well as an
emerging force for the sale of a worldwide variety of products, including
dietary supplements."

Will Go-Rachels.com keep the pace needed to come out a winner in the
speedway world of e-commerce? Ask Eddie Cheever who drove a
Rachel's Gourmet Potato Chips sponsored race car to win the 1998 Indy
500. Like race car drivers changing tires to match surface conditions,
parent company of the confectioner and maker of potato chips has
changed its name from RLD Enterprises (RLDS-BB) to
Go-Rachels.com to reflect its e-commerce focus. Expecting a
high-traffic site, James M. Garlie, chairman, president and CEO of
Go-Rachels.com said in a press release, "Our new e-commerce Web site
will also enable distributors to order truck loads of potato chips and other
products through the World Wide Web." The brand is maximizing its
affiliation with its racing team: the Go-Rachels.com team won the first Indy
Racing League race of the season, the Disney 200.

If you're bored with online auctions for baseballs
and Beanie Babies, hoof it over to
www.horsenet.com/mbti where the "e" in
e-commerce stands for equine. The site is part of a
stable of agricultural sites run by MBT
International (MBTI-BB) which values total
listings on the sites at over $87 million. In a press
release, MBT International CEO Andy McKinnon
said, "This first site focuses exclusively on horses
and brings the 15,000 animals in
AgriMall/HorseNet's SaleBarn into play." Using
auction technology similar to eBay (EBAY) and
uBid (UBID), MBTI expects a fee of up to 15
percent for each transaction.

Whether you've got a few yuan or a few dollars
burning a hole in your little red pocket book, you
can spend them both online. With an e-commerce
site expected to debut in March, Tianrong
Building Material Holdings (TNRG-BB) has
taken a great leap forward with a virtual shopping
mall offering goods from its shopping center located in China's Szechuan
province. James Tilton, TNRG president, said in a press release, "The
Internet shopping mall will allow shoppers in the United Sates, China and
around the world the opportunity to do something that was inconceivable
before the Internet age." The site will be published in both English and
Chinese.

When car buyers feel like they've lost control of the wheel, they can now
pull onto the information superhighway and visit www.loandata.com, set
to debut in early February. Loandata's Spot Finance Online is a
Web-based auto financing service that permits a customer to buy and
finance a car through bank-approved loans entirely online. Toby Riley,
president and CEO of Loandata, said, "By providing immediate financing
to consumers, we are making e-commerce a reality for the automotive
industry." See the press release. KeyBank USA (KEY) is a
"demonstration partner" for the site's debut at the National Automobile
Dealer's Association convention Feb. 6 - 9. However, Loandata wouldn't
disclose further information about their relationship with KeyBank USA.
Loandata is majority-owned by Oracle Corp. (ORCL)

Lamarck's theory of evolution has resurfaced with Daly & Wolcott's
name change to daly.commerce. The Providence, R.I.-based
e-commerce software developer changed its name to better represent the
company's focus on Internet-based commerce. John Cannington,
president of daly.commerce, said of the augmented appellation, "The
repositioning of our identity is symbolic of the rapid evolution we are living
as a company to better respond to the revolutionary changes underway in
our customers' environments." See the press release.
