* Soundview Technology Group said analyst Mark Specker lowered his
rating on COMPAQ COMPUTER to buy from strong buy. Lowered his
first quarter earnings estimate to $0.38 a share from $0.44, and
cut his fiscal year 1999 estimate to $1.86 a share from $1.88.
Established a fiscal year 2000 earnings estimate of $2.32 a share.

* PaineWebber personal computer analyst, Don Young, raised his
fiscal 1999 earnings per share estimate on COMPAQ COMPUTER to
$1.95 from $1.85. Young introduced fiscal year 2000 EPS estimate
of $2.55. Young maintains buy rating and 12-month price target of
$62.50. Says business conditions in the indirect retail channel
are improving. Sees developing emerging multi-channel sales, such
