Well, you probably have recourse, but you can't expect Jon to make good on a problem you didn't take to him. He should make good on what he sold you, but you are (properly IMO) probably going to be out what you paid the "local experts." IMO you did the right thing to EMail Jon and tell him what happened, but you should have done that first, even if you decided to go elsewhere. Realize he's operating on thin margins and passes the savings along to us, so be reasonable in your expectations and I bet he'll give you satisfaction. At least he has done for everyone else reporting here.
