Reasonable conjecture. Geac claims to be fully Y2K compatible but the fear factor may be taking its toll. Too bad. Great co.!

Take a look at these charts.

Daily - After trading above the 40day mov.avg for 3 months it has dipped below. canada.bigcharts.com

If you change the frequency to weekly (within the time frame option) you can see that the weekly close has tried to break through the 200day mov.avg but is failing. The 200day avg. is actually turning down.

I am certainly no expert in technical analysis but both charts look bearish. The market appears to be telling us something similar to what you are suggesting. For the next while, GAC may be a better short than a long.

I have sold 1/3 of my position as of last week and sold covered calls against the rest for now (dont' want to pay the full taxes as I bought 3 years ago). Maybe I am wrong. Who the heck knows for sure. However, I am still positive on Geac over the longer term.
