Cheryl-- Cheeky Kid is incredulous. Doesn't he sound like us about a year, two years ago when we also asked? 1.) Don't you think they are going to make sure they are in shape for the year 2000??? 2.) Do you think they are that stupid??? 3.) Do you know what kind of money is at stake??? add: 4.) Do you know how many lives are at stake??? Now consider that statement from Sun Microsystems CEO re: their Asian suppliers. One to three years behind. Confirmed by similar surveys made by other oems such as Intel and HP. Now answer the questions: 1.) Well, they certainly tried, but not hard enough. 2.) Not initially, but we learned that they were in fact THAT stupid. 3.) More money than you can imagine, but it seemed to make little difference. Go figure. 4.) I try not to think about the answer to this one. It is becoming more difficult to ignore. "flatsville" P.S.--I think the Yardeni and McNealy statements/admissions that came out of Davos are the kind of candid bell weather statements that should garner more attention. I doubt that most people want to hear this. Just remember, there's no problem so big that if we all just roll up our sleeves we can just simply ignore.
