RDM:

re <<My take is that this is more confirmation the AMD is becoming a geniune competitor to Intel. The underdog has teeth.>>

The shareholders have been paying a pretty price for that underdogs dental work. How long will the underdog continue to challenge the low cost producer on price?

I'd be more concerned about AMD's staying power as a competitor if they pursued an independent pricing policy and said "To hell with Intel, our products stand on their own and will be priced accordingly". Yet AMD has insisted on "25% beneath comparable Intel chips" as it's pricing policy.

I agree AMD may be leveraged by box makers as a negotiating tool but the AMD shareholders are paying the price for it!

Pretty good bark too, but the bad breath needs attention.
