* GATEWAY INC, the second biggest direct seller of personal
computers in the United States, is preparing to introduce a new
line of PCs powered by a new chip from ADVANCED MICRO DEVICES
rather than the latest chip from INTEL CORP, according to PC Week
Online. Gateway has been evaluating the AMD chip -- the K6-3 --
for some time and will use it in the new line being rolled out in
March, PC Week Online said, citing unnamed sources. The move will
allow it to offer the computers at much lower prices than it could
using a Intel chips. Compaq Computer Corp has also begun shipping
a PC line using AMD chips. (Reuters 06:45 AM ET 02/01/99)

* The world semiconductor market is set to record strong growth in
1999 after years of decline, as companies crank up spending to
fight off the millennium computer bug, a report published on
Monday said. The report, from Dataquest, a subsidiary of GARTNER
GROUP, said semiconductor revenues will rise 15% in 1999 to $154.5
bln. This is in line with other forecasts by research houses and
analysts. IDC of the U.S. recently said sales of semiconductor
chips would pull out of a steep decline to rise 8% in 1999.
Stockbrokers Morgan Stanley Dean Witter said in a report published
late last year that a recovery had set in and semiconductor
companies could look forward to improved profits. (Reuters 02:08

Jimbo...sold BEAR for a 2k loss. You're forgiven, since that's a small percentage of my INDI profits. BEAR will probably come back, but I couldn't see waiting and hoping when the VVTV rocket will blast off any day now. Up again today, single digits probably gone forever.

YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice post to MB also.
