Can anyone tell me about the DVD in the new Mac G3 minitowers? How are they, do they work well? Does anyone know if the DVD uses a C-Cube Microsystems MPEG decoder? Thanks!! Tim

Soup, as a PC user I've occasionally had to go to a CompUSA for a peripheral or piece of software. The PC buying experience is pretty poor also. Apple probably made a good move rationalizing their distributers last year. But now that the Apple store is up and running well I wonder if by next year they don't end their relationships with CompUSA and Best Buy and just go with small VARs and the Apple Internet Store. Alternatively, in someways the Gateway model is interesting. Use the Apple Store and the small VARs but supplement them with Apple Stores in various cities. The Apple Stores would be small, very high quality "demo" locations where the goal would be to promote a full range of products ranging across the Apple universe. The sales force would have high qualifications and good quality control. Actual sales at the location would be emphasized less than gaining a convert whether they bought thru mail order, internet or thru a VAR. Rich
