Long term.....AOL might well be "free to subscribbers"...

I did not say that was the strategy...I am saying ...it is amazing what they have created...and they are pumping every dollar out of it..that they can...

Use their valuation...? Laugh If you notice...they did not do a "stock swap" for movie phone...they paid cash for it...(probably using the excite $$...which they should have held onto for a couple of months...but there were probably political reasons to extricate themselves..).

Look...if...we are willing to pay "top dollar" for the stock...under the premise...that it will make big returns...they "darn" well better use that money...to "make it happen"

As a financial wizard...you know how that goes..!!

And don't think of "movie phone as an emall tenant..

Think of the concept of "traffic"...what draws a crowd...on a regular basis... chatting has beeen the salvation of AOL! That's how they made their big bucks originally chatting and charging by the hour!!

BTW: Chatting was "the" killer app! NOtice...how "addictive.." a bulletin board is.....?? (here on stocksite...we are addicted already) well chatting is even worse...and add a little sex (cyber or otherwises) and you have the "secret of aol"..mmmmm...that sense of community..is not only profitable..but loyalty building...

back to traffic.....Weather is the # 1 thing people look for on the web....(aren't we a predictable mass of behaviors)...
now...if you were "planning out AOL"...
what businesses could you "buy" to attract a continuous stream of "traffic" onto your pages....and...once you have the traffic (eyeballs) can you make a buck off it..!
Movie phone fits the bill...quite nicely....since they allow you to "advance buy your ticket".....pretty cool thinking...!!

I buy stock for marketing reasons...some unique marketable advantage and management sharp enough to "move when opportunity presents itself"
I did not buy MSFT and hold through thick and thin, (even with this DOJ thing....I am not concerned in the least!)..

I did not buy AOL...without considering the marketing reasons..

OT: look at CMGI...that is my next big winner.....still watching it...carefully...

I'll send you my %'s via PM.....so you can see...where my mouth is...

laugh......have a great day....AOL closed lower yesterday...time to buy!! smiles....mary

(hope I answered your questions...I tend to ramble on sometimes...)
