Swisscom To Build New Network With Cisco
Systems

BERN (Dow Jones)--Swisscom AG (SCM) is to build a network based on the Internet protocol with U.S. company Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) in the first half of this year, the Swiss telecommunications group said Tuesday.

The network will enable customers to communicate more quickly, efficiently and cheaply in coming years, while offering faster and more flexible services to business and residential customers, Swisscom said. Swisscom said it has started building the network, and that the first customers are expected to be able to connect to the network from July.

Cisco Systems, based in San Jose, California, is a leading maker of datacommunications equipment, deriving roughly a third of its $8.5 billion annual revenues from business with telecoms companies.
