<<<(SAP and IBM just cannot compete with the volume and pricing of these two).>>>

SAP is an database applications firm. They do not sell the database engine so they do not compete against SQL Sever 7. SAP does run on SQL Sever 7 but Oracle is the prefer choice of SAP.

<<<Currently, alot of Linux's products are freeware written by computer geeks>>>

There are several major problems with Linux. First, there are no standards. 2 Linux sites can be totally different making the need for Linux support very costly. Next, it is hard to find Linux support. Also, those major companies that you mention all want their own standards in Linux and the geeks and everyone else are trying to put their own standards in it. This is really a problem. The geeks want no one to dominate Linux. But it is a competitor to NT.

Thank You

JK

Ben,

What's your take on Office2000? Can you give us a hint on its release date/month? From what I have seen at a recent preview, I am expecting it to be a big winner for MS.
