Peter, Perfectly. They didn't mention computer sales because they didn't sell. Total pc units were up 15% 4Q. Prices were down much more than that. Result, negative sales. In fact, since consumer box unit sales were up more than 15%, business sales had to be lower than that average of the two. Total disaster.

What did they spend money on in the tech area? Y2K solutions, maybe? I don't know. But it sure wasn't pcs, servers or workstations.

peter, ' major upside surprise" ho ho ho lower expectation enough so there will be a surprise. The primary engine of growth in this bubble economy is the wealth effect of the stock market ponzi scheme which encourages consumers to spend more ,save less, and take on debt because the market will make them rich.
