You are more or less correct However there are two aspects of your diatribe that are weak and thoughtless and one aspect of your diatribe that is obtuse. Let's start with the obtuse aspect: IT's quite clear to me that the public will not stand for MORE INTRUSION into private and personal information by corporations. The make or break point will be medical records. Do not presume that you can advocate MORE PRIVATE INTRUSION into the personal lives of people without a very severe backlash against the economic interests of Intel et alia. Be my guest --- defend Big Brother. The politicians are chafing at the bit to regulate the internet. Give them another excuse. Now the weak thinking aspects: The Intel scheme is neither the most technically sound scheme for establishing a personal identity nor is it even minimally secure. An identity travels with the computer in the Intel scheme not with the person, but people have identities not machines. Within days of the release of the PIII the hackers will have a way to fudge the machines identity. So Mr. weak thinker I suggest you take a look at Digital Me, a product under development at Novell. This product has the potential to establish a secure digital identity under the control of the person (not the machine)for ecommerce. (try 25102 over on the NOVL thread) The funniest part of your post of course is your inability to see this computer ID for what it really is, not a security scheme for tracking down pornographers who post through Finland, but a way for Microsoft to make sure that no one uses one copy of its software on multiple machines. You missed the whole point of the scheme in the typical fashion of a narrow minded obtuse Intel engineer (wannabe as in wannabe like Paul Engel). And I especially liked your new definition of fascism --- "telling others how they should trade and what they should sell" Using that argument, which of course shows a total ignorance of history and economics, you would not have the state restricting harmful products --- exploding toys, harmful drugs etc. etc. Hell what do we need the FDA, SEC, FEC, IRS, Federal Reserve etc. etc. for --- on to the brave new corporate world of Intel.
