Nokia to supply fixed network equipment to BITel, Germany (February 9, 1999) - Nokia and BITel GmbH, based in Bielefeld, Germany have signed a contract for the provision of a total fixed network solution, for their city-wide network. The agreement, covers the supply of both Nokia transmission and switching equipment. Nokia will supply its Synfonet® STM 1\4 transmission solution and its DX 220 digital switching systems, based on the Nokia DX 200 switching platform. The Nokia NMS Network Management System will also be provided, as well as a comprehensive range of customer services. "The flexibility of Nokia's DX 200 switching platform is ideal as we will be able to expand the system capacity in line with demand, which is particularly important during the start up phase."
