Michael D.Burke...RE:"American products are generally considered tinny and unreliable."

This is a blanket statement that is not always correct.

Made in USA does not have the same meaning as it did years ago.

Today "Made in USA" often refers to Intellectual Properties,
Management and Marketing/Distribution Control of products.....not always to manufacturing (foreign sourced labor). For this Americans have a very good world reputation in technology.

The US has an political environment where (technology) companies are
permitted to flourish more than in other countries.

PS...I take offense to your remark"...Porsches and Mercedes..."
Thor drives a Mercedes (M Class), Loki drives a BMW 740iL.<ggg>

Michael,

"In Europe and Asia, American products are generally considered tinny and unreliable."

Not sure what planet you've been on lately.

Dear MB: Sorry, you are talking to a guy who prefers JEEPS. (ggg) I have been the offshore route. Never again. Many of those cars are great till they have a problem--THEN its an arm and a leg to have them repaired. JDN
