They dominate their markets, buy out competitors, top of the line services and sit on a lot of cash. Good combo.

In the oil business time is money, and SLB can provide the best of everything and customers know it is the best. Twenty million dollar programs are common even for small independents and somebody has to get the contract. Why save a million $ and risk screwing up $100 million.
