Thanks, I was pretty sure there had been some others, and I even vaguely recalled the Hayes business, just not which Prez. In fact, I am abashed for not remembering Lincoln. But you shouldn't be too hard on Les. It is difficult to remember presidential trivia from the 19th century, and Nixon's showing in the '68 election was overshadowed by his landslide in '72. It is true that Clinton managed to remain a plurality- President through both terms, leading one to think that he has, how shall I say, a soft mandate.
